Landegg International University is hosting an international conference for librarians and archivists, 2nd – 4th January 2003.
The conference will bring together gathering of scholars and non-scholars familiar with or interested in Bahá’í-related libraries and archives. Its principal themes include:
· A survey of current Bahá’í libraries
· A survey of current Bahá’í archives
· The establishment of private libraries and archives: case studies
· Identification of development needs: issues in the training of non-professionals to work in Bahá'í archives and libraries;
· The role of trained Bahá’í librarians and archivist employed in other professional settings
· Potential for formation of an association, or expansion and development of the existing "network".
· Issues in collection development
· Issues in cataloguing, classification and description
· Issues in preservation of electronic sources
· Issues in digitization of archival material for preservation and access.
· Other internet-related issues
· Access policies to ‘for Bahá’í only’ material
· Potential areas for collaboration
